Michael D'Amico was born on August 12, 1977 in Syracuse, New York. After graduating fro high school in 1995, he attended SUNY Buffalo State Collage in Buffalo, NY where he first started taking classes in writing and acting. In 1997, Michael began hosting his own heavy metal radio program on the campus radio station (WBNY 91.3 FM) where it became a local hit until he graduated from BSC in 1999 with a degree in broadcast production. Michael briefly worked on the production crew for the local newscasts for CBS affiliate WTVH-5 back in Syracuse before being offered a better job with the now-defunct Atlanta affiliate for PAX television. While at PAX, Michael worked with master control. engineering, and ultimately began filming, producing and directing some of the station's local programming.

By the end of 2000, Michael had not only started working for Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta (where he still works today) but also began kickboxing and competing in some of the local amateur tournaments.  It was also around this time when Michael, who has always enjoyed creative writing, began to get serious about writing and acting in films.  It was Michael's love of professional wrestling and low budget horror movies that lead him to the Dark Night Films website in 2003 as it was heavily hyping their then-latest release Chameleon Killer starring professional wrestler Violet Flame. Michael purchased The Chameleon Killer as well as the only other film that had been released at the time, Evil On Queen Street on DVD right away and enjoyed them so much, that he makes sure to visit darknightfilms.com on a daily basis.

In 2004, Dark Night Films started offering independent writers a chance to write future screenplays based off of thier stories.  Michael jumped at the chance to write the screenplay for The Skull (a script that Matt Spease had originally planned on writing himself) and upon reading Michael's draft of The Skull, Matt Spease was so impressed that he offered him the chance to direct the film as well!  Currently, Michael is hard at work on more screenplays for potential future Dark Night Films projects, which include and all-original vampire script entitled Dark Souls and a sequel to The Skull.
